“Truth is powerful, and it prevails.”
These words from Sojourner Truth, our company’s namesake, reflect an important principle of our company. Sojourner Truth was an African-American abolitionist and women’s rights activist in the 1840s and 50s. Although she was born into slavery in Swartekill, New York, Truth was able to escape to her freedom in 1826.
Like Sojourner Truth, we also believe that the truth will prevail.
The truth is that it is possible to recover from the disease of drug and alcohol addiction. Every day in the Butler County region, thousands suffer needlessly from devastating effects of chemical dependency including broken homes, lost jobs, loved ones placing their lives in jeopardy, and many more. It is our objective to help those suffering to realize the truth of addiction: it is possible to recover.
There is hope.
Recovering from drug or alcohol addiction is not easy, but it is possible with the help of those who understand. Since 1984, Sojourner Recovery Services has offered this helping hand to those in need. Utilizing the latest methods in research-based chemical dependency treatment along with the proved tools of the past 75 years, Sojourner Recovery Services helps clients regain purposeful and meaningful lives, as well as their sense of self-worth. Individualized programs of treatment heal the whole person and help the men, women, adolescents, and children of the Butler County region realize their dreams for a better future. In this work, we remember the gentle, humanistic philosophy of our namesake.
“Surely together we can turn the world right-side up again.” – Sojourner Truth
