Our MAMAs have a new home!

Our MAMAs have a new home!

“Since affirmating from Sojourner, I am still clean and sober almost 9 months later with a new baby on the way and I am the happiest I have ever been in my life!”

At Sojourner Recover Services, we have one goal in mind:  Helping individuals pursue their path to recovery.  One of the biggest motivators that brings people to Sojourner is a burning desire to make a better life for themselves and their families.  There is no desire stronger than that of pregnant women who are trying to get clean in order to deliver a happy and healthy baby. For more than 30 years, Sojourner has provided substance use services to women and specifically to those who are pregnant or have children. Today we are pleased to share with the community our recently renovated Herland Family Center (HFC) located at 520 High Street in Hamilton, Ohio. This building houses several programs including our perinatal program, MAMAs Recovery Housing, and Outpatient Substance Use Treatment Services.

Sojourner Recovery Services’ Perinatal Program utilizes a holistic approach to provide substance abuse prevention services to pregnant women, women of child-bearing age, and their partners. Pregnant women that are struggling with addiction or are at high risk for chemical dependency count on Sojourner perinatal staff to provide support and assistance throughout the entire prenatal process. Comprehensive services are provided through labor, delivery, and home visits up to one year postpartum. If you are a pregnant woman, or have a child under one year of age and are interested in our perinatal services, we encourage you to reach out to us and discover all the ways we can help. Parenting is hard, but with support it, doesn’t have to be!

The Motherhood and Maternity Addictions Services program (MAMA’s) offers complete wraparound services, including recovery housing for perinatal clients engaged in treatment. Women who are pregnant, or have given birth within the last twelve months, enter the housing program after successful completion of residential treatment and are provided safe and affordable housing in a recovery themed and nurturing environment. While attending outpatient treatment, residents meet weekly with the Perinatal Case Manager to work on their individualized case plan with goals that include continued recovery, positive and effective parenting and self-sufficiency. In 2019, 15 pregnant and postpartum mothers and their infants were residents of the Mama’s Recovery House.

The Mama’s Recovery House moved into our new location in June, 2020. The newly renovated building offers fully furnished apartments, onsite laundry, a children’s area with a children’s library, and spacious office areas where house meetings, case management sessions, and educational groups are held. An added bonus is the fenced in backyard area with picnic table and playset.

Outpatient Substance Use Services: Our first floor office space is completely separate from those used by our perinatal and MAMAs programs. This offers us a great opportunity to host outpatient groups and individual sessions with our licensed substance use counselors in a space that is familiar to our clients and easy to access because it is right on High Street! This is also a great central location for our community case managers to meet with clients to work on recovery.
